Basic Recording Bundle!
(Under $300)
You will need a Cardiod Condenser Mic! I recommend the Rode NT1 (what I have used for years). You will need an XLR cable, Pop Filter (trust me-never skip the pop filter), and Shockmount. All of those items are included (click the photo)!
About $160
Next, you need a mic stand which you can adjust for your height. A simple floor mic stand with a boom arm will do. Here’s the one I use!
About $26
How’s the mic gonna plug-in to your computer? You need to run it through an audio interface. If you’re not recording multiple instruments at a time, the M-Track Solo is all you need! Make sure you turn on phantom power when recording.
About $49
You will need to monitor yourself while recording. These M-audio studio grade headphones will get you started, with clear audio and limited sound leaking through. Keep in mind, if you are going to be doing your own mixing/ mastering, you are gonna want to invest in some quality monitors for that!
About $39
The audio interface will plug into your desktop or laptop. Keep in mind, you may need to purchase an additional USB port or the appropriate cables if the USB B USB A cable that comes with the M-Track doesn’t fit your set-up. Last but not least, you need an audio recording software on your computer. Every Apple computer automatically comes with Garageband, a free recording software, great for the basics. I personally use Logic Pro, but there are others such as Pro Tools, Fruity Loops, etc. Do your research and decide which one best fits your needs.
Tapping into your creative energy is one of the best gifts you can give not only to the world, but to yourself!
Happy creating :)
